This summer we’re bringing back our popular half term activity clubs that we ran for the first time in the easter break and again at the summer half term holiday. This time we’ve taken on your feedback from our previous sessions to try and make them even better; we will now be running three main session types for riders with different goals and ambitions!

We have tried to arrange a spread of dates from the end of term for Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland schools in July up to the last week in August. Hopefully this way there will be at least one session available to you if you have summer plans. The sessions are a few weeks apart so if you like you can book on for multiple sessions!

Let’s take a closer look at the content of the sessions below to help you make the right choice.

Firstly, our Summer Cycling for Young Adventurers sessions will run between 09:30-12:30 on the 22nd of July, 6th and 30th of August. They’re aimed at Children aged 7-11, and we will cover up to 20km (12.5 Miles) if possible, depending on the group, weather, and route suitability. This session is aimed at young riders who are not regular riders but want to cycle more and build their confidence and have fun!

Summer Cycling for Experienced Adventurers will run between 13:00-16:00 on the 22nd of July, 6th and 30th of August. This Ride is aimed at budding young cyclists aged 9-12 who are more regular riders. Riders should be familiar with riding in groups and riding for longer distances. This group is aimed at riders who may have attended our previous rides and want to go further and enjoy themselves on the bike! We will be aiming to ride up to 40km (25 miles) depending on the weather, group, and route suitability.

Summer Progressive off-road skills coaching will take place all day (09:30-15:30) on the 27th July, 10th and 24th of August. Our off-road skills sessions will take place leaving from our base in North Tyne Industrial Estate opposite the Rising Sun Country Park. These sessions are aimed at young riders aged 10-14 who are confident young riders looking to hone off-road skills. We will be heading into the Rising Sun to focus on improving riding skills on natural off-road features before closing the day off with a group ride where we will use our new and sharpened skills. We will be focusing our coaching on three key skill sets; climbing & descending safely on loose surfaces, choosing the right line through roots and rocks and small drops and trail features.

If you or your children are interested in any of our sessions you can book on via bike4health.org/shop. If you have any questions or need any advice/guidance on choosing the right one please get in touch with us via info@bike4health.org and we’ll be happy to help!
