Schools

Schools & Education

Our work in the education sector supports curriculum learning across all key stages, but also enhances personal development and improves overall physical and mental wellbeing.

We work in partnership with schools, trusts, academies, and local councils to deliver rides, trips and holiday clubs. We also build tracks and education spaces and supply fleets of bikes and maintain them.

Bikeability

Bike4Health is a registered Bikeability provider. Bikeability is the Government backed, nationally recognised scheme for cycling training and courses run in three levels;

Level 1 consists of basic bike handling skills in a traffic free environment
Level 2 is held on quiet roads
Level 3 is personalised training to suit the individual’s requirements

Bikeability sits as a perfect foundation for coaching children to cycle, on which we can build more in-depth cycling skills coaching, longer challenge rides and trips and experiences.

On-site Coaching and Training

Bike4Health offers high quality cycle skills training at schools across the North East. Beyond cycling safely on roads, coaching focuses on developing the finer skills and techniques to cycle with confidence based on British Cycling’s cycling coaching pathway. On-site coaching takes place on tarmac yards, multi-use games areas, school fields, or Space4Learning Cycle Tracks.

Off-site Rides

We work with schools to make off site riding happen. Through the delivery of Bikeability, weekly on-site coaching, and enhanced staff training, leaving the school bus behind for local trips becomes a possibility. Our partner schools integrate cycling with their school life in many ways; as a means to get to activities (like swimming, or sports events), as part of the curiculum (visiting historical or scientific sites), or, as we recommend, just for the fun of it!

Day Trips & Challenge Rides

As an extension to off-site riding, schools can work day trips and challenge rides into their curriculum as an end of term incentive or reward to inspire pupils on their cycling journey.

Bike4Health can support trips in Kielder & Wark Forest on completely car-free routes on the Reivers Trails network. We also support fantastic coastal rides along the Northumberland coastal path. We also love to make new and unique ideas happen, so why not ask if you have an idea in mind!

Multi Day & International Trips

Bike4Health can offer inspiring multi day and international trips right from your School’s front door! Simply choose a destination which suits you. We can offer an overnight stay at Broomley Hall in the Tyne Valley, a fully supported trip on the iconic C2C, or a four day adventure travelling from North Shields to the Netherlands on the ferry to experience dutch cycling culture and so much more!

Fleet Sales & Servicing

We supply high quality award winning Frog Bikes to our school and local authority partners. We offer a complete service – bikes are meticulously hand built and delivered with documentation to satisfy insurers. Our large capacity workshop in Benton has been designed for fleet servicing, so we can get your bikes back to you as quickly as possible. We can also provide storage and security solutions for your cycling programme.

Training for Teachers

We’re all about getting #morekidsonbikes. Helping schools make cycling part of their culture is impotrant to us, so we offer a range of staff training options so that you don’t have to rely on us to deliver your cycling activity.

We can offer training in Bikeability, along the British Cycling Coaching and Ride Leadership pathways, and also in Bike Maintenance with our Cytech qualified mechanics.

Tracks & Unique Educational Spaces

Our sister company, Space4Learning, designs, plans and builds multi-use all-weather tracks in school grounds. As well as for cycling, our tracks can also be used for walking and running.
